A pair of entwined Herend hand-painted ducks of large proportion, in the fishnet pattern, approximately L38cm.

We are excited to offer several hand-painted figures of birds by the renowned Hungarian luxury ceramics producer Herend. Using only the best materials, these figures are meticulously hand-painted and feature the iconic fishnet pattern. These figures will go under the hammer in our upcoming Antiques & Interiors sale on Wednesday, 6th May, and are sure to be popular with collectors.

Along with Lot 154, we also have a cockerel and chicken pair (Lot 155), a pelican (Lot 153), a pair of owls (Lot 151), and a pheasant (Lot 152). See also Lot 150 for more figures and Lot 149 for some latticework dishes.

Herend Porcelain: A Collector's Favourite

Founded in 1826, Herend Porcelain Manufactory is one of Europe's most prestigious porcelain houses, famed for supplying royalty and collectors worldwide. It remains one of the very few manufacturers still producing entirely hand-crafted and hand-painted pieces, placing it firmly at the pinnacle of luxury ceramics.

Herend animal figures are especially collectable, with the signature fishnet pattern showcasing remarkable skill and precision. Each piece is individually painted, ensuring no two are exactly alike, an important factor for collectors. Larger, sculptural examples such as this pair of entwined ducks are particularly desirable for their scale and visual impact.

Made from the finest porcelain and finished with hand-applied gilding, these works are highly prized well beyond Hungary, reaching the UK, the rest of Europe, and the US. Herend figures are both refined luxury decorative objects and enduring collector's pieces.
