Who Is Vivien Mallock?

Vivien Mallock is an internationally renowned English sculptor who works mostly in bronze. She has been a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors since 1998 and is in high demand. From miniature sculptures of mammals and birds to massive public sculptures, the artist has a wealth of skill and talent. She is also celebrated for her detailed portraiture and ability to capture expression and even movement in a static medium. Her studio is in Hampshire and is located next to the Talos Art Foundry, where her work is moulded and cast.

Many of her smaller animal creations are crafted as limited editions for private collectors, and key pieces include a limited edition bronze depiction of a matriarch elephant guiding her calf, created in support of the Save the Elephants charity, titled 'Elephant Watch'; highly detailed sculptures of warthogs and meerkats capturing their character and personalities perfectly, as well as a variety of owls and other birds, with a heavy focus on the detail of the feathers.

Known for her larger, more public works and portraiture, Mallock has had a wide range of public commissions, most notably those with a  military or royal theme:

The Royal Tank Regiment Memorial - Mallock has had many military commissions and perhaps one of the most prominent is the Royal Tank Regiment Memorial which is located in Whitehall Court, London, and is an impressive 1 1/2 times life-size. This is a memorial to the men rather than the machines, and depicts the five-man crew of a WWII-era Comet tank. The memorial was unveiled by HRH Queen Elizabeth II in 2000 as Colonel-in-Chief. A resin cast of this sculpture can also be found outside The Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset.

The Queen Mother - Located in St Mary's Hospital in the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother wing, this 22" striking portrait of The Queen Mother is famously known for being the last portrait for which she sat.

HM Queen Elizabeth II - a huge 6-foot bronze roundel featuring a regal portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by a stylised Hampshire Rose, was commissioned to honour her Diamond Jubilee in 2012. Currently located in The Great Hall in Winchester.
