How to Bid

how to bid

Bidding at RWB Auctions is safe, straightforward and flexible.

We offer a range of bidding options so that you can choose between the excitement of bidding live in the saleroom and the ease of bidding remotely from home.

Submitting a winning bid does bind you to pay the sale price, plus Buyer's Premium and the relevant taxes. However, our system means you can't accidentally submit a bid on a lot you can’t afford or don't want.

There's no risk of scratching your nose at the wrong time and finding yourself the owner of a Rembrandt!

Come to One of Our Viewing Days

It is always a good idea to view items for sale before the auction is held. That way, you can make an informed decision on what you are going to bid on and how much you are prepared to spend.

Our salerooms are open for viewing on the two days immediately preceding a sale. You will find viewing dates and time listed on our events calendar and on the page for each sale. You can also view lots the morning before an auction, between 9am and 10am when the sale begins.

For some specialist sales, viewing dates may be slightly different. These times will be detailed on the auction calendar for that sale.

Sale Catalogues

If you can't view items from the sale in person, take a look at our online catalogues. The team at RWB Auctions carefully identifies, describes, and photographs each lot, so you should have plenty of information to help you choose what to bid on.

Lots are sold 'as is' so make sure to study the catalogue carefully, including measurements and comments on the item's condition.

If you need more details, you can always request a Condition Report. These reports are free of charge and involve one of our experts inspecting the lot for signs of deterioration, damage, or old repairs. If relevant, additional photographs can be provided illustrating any condition issues.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you have questions about a lot in one of our upcoming sales.

If you are unable to collect your lots in person, we offer a comprehensive in-house post and packing service. We are also able to deliver large items for a moderate fee. Read more about our delivery services or contact us to make arrangements.

Lots that have not been collected within five working days, and where no postage or delivery arrangements have been made, will be placed in secure storage. You will be charged £20 for administration and £5 per day per lot for storage. If you are having issues collecting your order please contact us - we will be happy to discuss your options.
