Welcome

Our auction house, bistro and gallery is on Royal Wootton Bassett’s High Street, and is a newly completed fully compliant development.

Whether you are buying or selling at auction, visiting our gallery or eating at our bistro our aim is to that you have an enjoyable, accessible and safe visit. 

We are fully accessible for wheelchair users to both the ground and 1st floor and can cater for anyone with other specific access requirements.

At a Glance

Level Access

  • There is level access from the main entrance on the High Street and from our car park entrance to:
    • Our Reception Area
    • Quercus Bistro
    • The Salerooms
    • Lift to the The View Gallery and rooftop terrace
    • Disabled WC’s on Ground and First Floor

Hearing

  • All auctions are conducted with the assistance of a public address speaker system and are also available for viewing and bidding online.
  • Staff undergo disability awareness training and some have basic BSL understanding.

Visual

  • Glass doors and full-height windows have contrast markings.
  • The walls and the doors have high colour contrast.
  • The salerooms and gallery have high light levels, the Bistro lighting is bright during daylight hours and the intensity is lowered in the evenings.
  • The auction catalogue and Bistro menus can be provided in large print on request and are available online.

Travel by public transport

  • You can get to Royal Wootton Bassett via the 55 or 99 Bus services from Swindon and Chippenham respectively.
  • The nearest bus stop is on the High Street 160m East of our main entrance .
  • The nearest train stations are in Swindon and Chippenham.

Travel by taxi

  • You can get a taxi with  24/7 taxis by calling 01793 469 247 or 01793 339269 or emailing enquiries@247swindontaxis.co.uk. The company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
  • Accessible taxis should be booked in advance. To access the us during business hours please ask to be dropped off at our car park (see below). Outside of business hours, for access to Quercus Bistro, you can be dropped off at our High Street entrance, but there is no dropped kerb.

Parking.

  • We have a car park to the rear of the building, entrance via Station Road. The car park has two disabled spaces and level access to the salesrooms and the lift lobby.

Path to High Street entrance

  • From the path to the main entrance, there is level access.
  • The path is 5m wide, or more.
  • The path is sloped.
  • The main entrance has level access.
  • The door is 1.8m wide.

Getting around inside

Lift

  • We have 1 lift to the first floor.
  • The lift door is 900mm wide.
  • The lift is 1002mm wide. The lift is 1400mm deep.
  • The lift says the floor number at each floor.
  • The lift buttons have raised and brail numbers or letters.
  • The lift shows the floor number, at each floor.
  • The lift provides access to The lighting in the lift is LED spotlights and there is no music played in the lift. The flooring in the lift is PVC non-slip material.

Customer care support

Accessibility equipment

  • We welcome assistance dogs and can provide water bowls for them. Please ask staff for assistance.

Emergency evacuation procedures

  • We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.
  • In the case of an evacuation, all customers will be led to safety by a member of the team or by a member of the fire brigade.
