Lily Power

Role
Head of Asian Art

What brought you into this role?

I have always been interested in arts and antiques though I studied Business Administration for my master degree, MBA. Took the opportunity of house moving  seven years ago, I sought a job with a well established auction house in Gloucestershire. Ever since I took professional courses on oriental antiques while handling and learning daily at the sale room in the company. I am now pleased to work as the Asian art specialist here at RWB Auctions which attracted me as a friendly, forward looking business.

What has been a highlight of your career so far?

Auction is an exciting business indeed! There are many memorable occasions throughout the years. The most unforgettable one was that a Ming blue and white porcelain disc, valued £200, was sold for a mighty £38000 hammer price thanks to my effective marketing campaign to targeted Chinese buyers.

What is your role at RWB Auctions?

I am the Asian Art Specialist at RWB Auctions. I am responsible for organizing our Asian art sales, including getting consignments in, valuing, cataloguing, providing condition reports and marketing particularly to our Mandarin speaking clients both within and outside China.

What book do you currently have beside your bed?

There is always an iPad and a pile of books beside my bed in both Mandarin and English. Many of them are professional books about art and antiques mixed with current and past auction catalogues. For relaxation I also have a boxed set of Jane Austen's novels.
