Role
Events Manager

What is your role at RWB Auctions?

I am the Events Manager for the organisation, so I work out the logistics for the events that are being held on and off-site, such as valuation days, private views, evening talks and our series of masterclasses. I am also the Gallery Manager for The View Gallery, which is located on the floor above the auction rooms.

What brought you into this role?

I have extensive experience in event management from small groups undertaking specialist training to large-scale conferences across the UK. I really enjoy tracking all the moving parts and it's so great seeing everything come together. I also come from a heritage background, and a large part of my career involved curating exhibitions, organisational strategy, and audience engagement - what can we do to make people want to visit.

What has been a highlight of your career so far?

Creating the exhibition 'Military Ink', a temporary exhibition showcasing the tattoos of serving military personnel. I got to take photos of the tattoos and record the stories behind them. Some were hilarious, some were heart breaking, but it was great fun and gave me a chance to share the thoughts and practices behind what is an increasingly acceptable but still looked down on art form.

What book do you currently have beside your bed?

I'm currently reading David Copperfield by Charles Dickens - I had originally bought Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver on which it is loosely based, but was advised to read the Dickens version first. I'm not sure I'm going to make it though!
