Role
Head Porter

What is your role at RWB Auctions?

I am the Head Porter. This involves keeping the salesrooms tidy and organised, packaging and shipping purchases and collecting items from Client's homes. I work closely with the auctioneers to organise all of our Auction sales.

What brought you into this role?

I entered the auction world eight years ago, having previously acquired extensive knowledge in the realms of antiquarian and modern books. I attained this knowledge through personal research and by scouring car boot sales. One of my most exciting discoveries during this time was a signed print by Beryl Cook. Since joining the auction industry, I've had the opportunity to learn from numerous specialists, gaining experience in various other domains such as antiques, military items, photography, and historical ephemera.

What has been a highlight of your career so far?

I love being involved with consignments that exceed expectations. For instance, we had a Mary Seacole terracotta bust which had been estimated at £1,000-£1,500 and ended up selling for over £100,000.

What book do you currently have beside your bed?

I have Jurgen Klopp's biography beside my bed at the moment. I'm a big Liverpool fan and it was fascinating to learn how he came into the world of Football and then dominated the European scene.
